Donington Historic Festival 4th May
20 Cars took the trip down the motorway heading for the annual historic festival over the bank holiday weekend. The infield spot was packed, and was soon entertained by the fantastic racing that was on offer. To say how much some of these motors were worth, the drivers certainly weren’t shy. The paddock was open also, and some cracking Group B cars and historic karts were also on show. Brilliant weekend had by all.
Baggeridge Country Park Transport Show 18th May
12 Cars took the long (3 mile) drive to Baggeridge Country park for the first of two, Transport shows. Organised by the parks tea rooms, this little show is becoming a big hit. Some cracking motors were on show and with the sun out and the laid back atmosphere it made for a fantastic day out. Looking forward to the second one now.
Trentham Gardens 15th June
Fathers day this year saw the club venture out to Trentham Gardens for the annual transport show. Some 1400 vehicles descended on this idyllic setting for a good day all round. All be it did drizzle a little and the chips were expensive, some great models of motor were on show. And a bonus were the fantastic gardens and shops which made the day even more enjoyable.
Malcolm Garratt Run 22nd June
Malcolm was a devoted Black Country MG members, owning a Magnette, he participated in many club events. In his memory, David and Gaynor planned a 61 mile run out, culminating in Little Wenlock. Dave and Gaynor's friends kindly allowed us to use their paddock which played host to a BBQ and an afternoon of taking in the views. Typical relaxing Sunday out, a Fantastic day out.
Shelsley Walsh Historic Festival 20th July
The hot spell continues and made this fantastic day even better. Special guest, Sir Stirling Moss, could be seen around the attractions, as well as going for a blast up the hill. This idyllic setting has something for everyone, out in the middle of no-where and the silence is only broken by the roar of highly tuned engines.
Severn Valley Classic Car Show 27th July
This year, we decided as a club to try a few different things. The Severn Valley Classic show was one of them. Fairly local to us, we headed out to Bridgenorth for the station where the MG and Morris marques were on show. Later on we visited Highly station where some more Austin Marques were on show. The run out had a great balance of both driving and stopping to take in the exhibits. To top the day off we headed for the Royal Oak Beer Garden at Bobbington.
Summer Proms, Springs Leisure Park, 17th August
Sandwiches, Tea and Cake were the order of the day, for the charity proms at the Springs in Pershore. The day was in aid of the air ambulance. A fantastic venue which played host to the brass band, and a vast array of cake! The day was very relaxed, and was enjoyed by the members who attended. We’d like to thank the Springs for their hospitality.
Himley Transport Show 7th September
A record year for the club, with 23 cars on the stand. The weather was absolutely fantastic, which set the day off to a tee. Once again there was lots to see and do, with over 1400 vehicles in attendance. To top off the days events, BCMGOC Member Gordon, won best in class with he’s stunning MG C Roadster. Throughout the day, we’d brought food for a picnic, which once again didn’t get eaten due to chatting. Brilliant day out.
Baggeridge Country Park Show September 28th
This was a last Minute change to the schedule, but this being a local show, we chose to pay a visit. An informal show, which attracts a vast array of different vehicles, is one which is enjoyed by our members. The show also continued later on, as an unofficial gathering was attended at the Wagon and Horses Pub Wombourn. It’s nice to chat to local folk who share the same interest, and there was a great deal of this going on, which made the day.
